Grow the Delicious Crimson Sweet Watermelon: Crimson Sweet is a heirloom variety known for its sweet red flesh and green striped skin. These watermelons can grow up to 20-25 pounds, with each round fruit measuring around 13-14 inches in diameter. The seeds are relatively small, making them easy to remove before enjoying on a hot summer day.

The watermelon plants will grow to a mature height of 8-10 inches tall, trailing outwards to cover an area of 8-10 feet. Each vine can produce 2-4 melons, depending on growing conditions. These juicy fruits will be ready for harvesting around 90 days after the first sprouts appear.

Watermelons are composed of 95-96% water, with the remaining 5-6% being mainly sugar. Consuming watermelons can provide health benefits, such as lowering the risk of cancer, preventing asthma due to their Vitamin C content, reducing muscle soreness, promoting healthy skin, and regulating the digestive system.

Sowing and Growing: Watermelons thrive in warm climates, requiring full sun exposure and well-drained, rich soil with a pH between 6 and 6.8. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, then transplant entire pots when the weather is warm. In cooler climates, you can direct sow outdoors.

Your watermelon seeds will sprout within 7-14 days, with the vines growing outwards to cover an area of 8-10 feet. Space plants 3-5 feet apart, with rows 5-8 feet apart. Harvest the delicious fruits around 90 days after the first sprouts appear, or when the bottom spot turns from white to yellow.
